Spanish Palace - Not amused
Spain's Royal Palace expressed it's annoyance today at an ad placed in the Spanish press using a photograph of Queen Sofia without approval. The ad used a photograph of Queen Sofia with the slogan 'Fly like a Monarch', adding 'It is a privilege for us that Queen Sofia flies with the company which shows the highest growth in Spain, Ryanair.' A spokesperson for the Royal Palace said that the monarchy was surprised that the airline had neither requested permission nor informed the palace of the advertisement placing , but added that they could not see anything definite in terms of legal actions or options. Queen Sofia flew Ryanair last weekend from Santander to Stansted when she was informed that her brother, the former King Constantine of Greece had been admitted to hospital for emergency surgery. Ryanair are the only airline to fly from Santander to Stansted and once again prove the idiom 'there's no such thing as bad publicity'.
