Ryanair welcomes court decision in Germany

Ryanair today welcomed the decision of the court in the German town of Simmern to dismiss a compensation claim by a passenger arising from the cancellation of a Ryanair flight due to bad weather conditions at Jerez, Spain in October 2007.
The passenger claimed €1,600 in damages but the claim was dismissed by the court, finding that bad weather prevented the aircraft from landing safely and did constitute circumstances which were beyond the control of the airline under EU regulation EU261.
