The announcement was made one day in advance of SIPTU announcing the results of it's ballot for strike action, should the airline proceed with plans to unilaterally implement a program to outsource labour at the airline.
The airline issued a staff bulletin today outlining the qualifying terms of the redundancy and retirement packages and placed a webcast on it's web site from CEO Dermot Mannion and CFO Sean Coyle.
Meanwhile the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) is gearing itself for lobbying the Government and the social partners in an attempt to prevent strike action at the airline before Christmas. The Government have already stated their intention of avoiding involvement in the growing dispute, but with their recent track record of U turns, how much longer will it be before they are drawn in ?
