On the basis of complaints received from constituentson the island, Dr. Busuttil investigated the matter and found that Ryanair were charging the tax for flights booked after November 1.
When contacted about the matter, Ryanair said that they "have not had any notification of reductions in the level of taxes charged, including the date when this amendment applies from", adding that once they had received official notification they would update their records accordingly.
The Civil Aviation Department in Malta is investigating the matter and will compel Ryanair to refund the tax if they are found to have been charging incorrectly.
